Goldfinch
We have been inundated with siskins since we erected a new feeder. Here a female tucks in.
This is a male siskin
The goldfinches that had been so numerous found the siskin invasion too much. This is one of the ones that stuck it out!
Another male siskin, this time after sunflower hearts
At times we have had over 50 siskins feeding in our garden.
Recently, a few redpolls have found us. This is a female.
A female redpoll.
They really are this colour!
What are you doing down there?
Redpoll, chaffinch and siskins have all flocked to the niger seeds.
Another male redpoll.
What are you doing with that thing?
A cormorant drying/warming itself at the WWT site at Barnes.
The cormorant stayed posing for several minutes!
A grumpy looking heron sat with its back to us for most of the time we were at Barnes.
A couple of great crested grebes were building their nest together.
Both grebes take an active part in nest building.
The grebes' nest site can be seen here.
Eventually, the heron looked round to see what we were up to.
